Emotional Satisfaction From Well-Made Waterproof Footwear – 22 March 2021

I stepped in a puddle today and was eventually pleased to confirm that my waterproof shoes are sufficiently waterproof. I felt a small amount of emotional satisfaction knowing that they’re doing what they are made to do.

This emotional satisfaction is not without a cost, however. For a good dozen or so minutes I continued to have some degree of anxiety over whether I’d notice some moisture inside the shoe. I never did, but I was still mildly worried about it.

When I stepped in that puddle I was brushing the heavy wet snow off of my car. It was some of the densest snow I’ve ever seen in Colorado, which makes sense because it fell on the second day of spring into the third and it never really got very cold.

Today I moved some stuff around in my apartment and it’s a massive improvement. The previous layout made no sense, in retrospect, but there were some things I liked about it. The new setup is better. I have opened up more space in my living room to play music, stretch, work out, and meditate. Tomorrow I am going shopping for a small round rug no more than four feet in diameter. I found one online but I’d rather pick it up somewhere if possible.
