Book of the Week – 15 December 2014 – Werner Herzog: A Guide for the Perplexed

I have not yet read more than a few pages of this book. I just purchased it tonight. However, I can confidently say that it is one of my favorite books of 2014. The reason is because Werner Herzog’s insight and wisdom have been consistent sources of inspiration in my life. In his films, books and interviews, Herzog consistently has shown himself to be one of the most interesting and engaging artists and thinkers of our time. Whenever I am exposed to his ideas or art, I come away feeling I have truly gained something from the experience. I expect nothing less from this collection of conversations. It helps that the conversations are with Paul Cronin, whose previous collection of Herzog wisdom, entitled Herzog on Herzog was an exceptional read. This one is longer, and if anything, Herzog has just become more interesting since that was published. I expect nothing short of brilliance.
