Recently, someone asked, “why is football relevant?”
I replied, “why is anything relevant?”
but, that wasn’t exactly what I meant.
The better question is: is relevancy still relevant?
and does it even matter if it is, or if it’s not, really?
As meaning meanders its way through
things,
it’s easy to imagine collapsing landscapes,
buildings,
even.
Trying, sideways, crumble, float, sky, dust, stars, empty;
and as we watched the vast mountains of soliloquy
disintegrating into a confused landscape
silent, emptied, collapsed,
forgotten narratives
told; untold.
We laughed
drank wine
got high
and fell asleep.
